In 2003 Illuminating Concepts was awarded the position of City of Detroit’s Lighting Designers for an extensive urban redevelopment program. Collaborating with the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation, multiple architectural firms and the Public Lighting Department, IC’s task for the renovations was to establish unified lighting standards for streetscapes, building facades and landscaping, and to implement an infrastructure plan that would allow for future street-based entertainment possibilities. Our team sourced and implemented fixtures that complemented the historic character of each area’s architecture while providing increased illumination levels, modern lamp technology, efficiency and easy maintenance.
